Hey friend!
In today’s lesson, we’re talking about how you’re going to actually come up with types of journals to sell.
Don’t over-complicate this - keep it simple, and keep it inspiring.
Remember, journaling is an extremely powerful practice, and can truly change people’s lives.
Journaling can be a game changer when it comes to maintaining mental health.
There is something about writing and getting your thoughts out that is very therapeutic.
Sometimes, it can be hard at first to start. That’s why we are here to help create beautiful and inspiring books of journal prompts - to help people to get the ball rolling!
It can be debilitating to sit there and not know what to write. Also, it’s pretty normal to feel weird when you start writing. That’s why I started creating journaling books and guides, to help people through this process.
It is totally normal to resist journaling. It can be scary to see your thoughts on paper. But try it once and tell yourself you can throw away the paper as soon as you want to. Just give it a try.
I started journaling a lot when my younger brother died of an overdose in 2016 at the young age of 28. I also sought counseling and life coaching, but journaling has been key for me, as well.
I’m Holly Ecimovic, I create books and journals for health and emotional wellness, and for those who love personal development + fitness. (Grab my Fitness Manifestation Journal, here!)

How to choose which journals to create and sell:
Notice what topics you are drawn to.
The journals that you will create and sell must be not only attractive to your reader, but attractive to YOU.
Why?
Because your essence will shine through these journals. When you create them, your audience will be able to feel your intention behind the journal. And don’t you want that to be a feeling of intrigue, desire and inspiration?
If you design a journal that your heart isn’t in, people can feel it, and the journal won’t sell. So decide today to focus on a themed journal that sparks joy and desire inside of you. We want to portray that exact feeling to the reader!
Themes
One way to niche down the type of journals you will create and sell is to simply choose a theme.
In the past, I have created and sold themed journals, and in one case I used "seasons.”
I made a journal bundle, consisting of the Fading Summer Manifestation Journal, and another manifestation journal with it. You can check that out, HERE.
I also created a nature-themed journal and sold it - the Sage Midnight Manifestation Journal.
Another theme journal I created and sold was the Fitness Manifestation Journal + Food and Mood Tracker. In that one, I married the concept of fitness and nutrition tracking into one physical wellness-themed journal.
In these examples, you can see the theme was very clear to my readers.
Now, which theme has you intrigued?
Start working up about 3 journal pages for it, and see how you feel. If you like how your journal is developing, please continue! If you hate it, just start over, pick a new theme, and then begin your 3 pages again. From there, keep going and then BAM! Next thing you know, you’re producing and selling out this journal.
Key tip: Decide, execute, and see how your audience takes to it. Evaluate for next time.
Styles
You can also decide on a STYLE of journal. That can help you niche down.
You can style your journal to be completely made up of bulleted journal prompts.
You could also have lots of photos and images to go with quotes throughout your journal, inter-mingled with prompts.
You don’t even have to use prompts. You could write short stories, and then have your readers respond to questions in the journal.
You could also simply have a journal with all illustrations, and lines for writing! It is up to you.
Decide on how you want the journal laid out, and this could easily direct the momentum you develop when creating and selling the journal. Style could dictate what you create, and how you show it to the world.
Having a style determined for your journal ahead of time will help you to create it more efficiently!
Goals You Have for Your Audience
One additional way I have decided on which type of journal to create in the past, was simply to decide on what goal I wanted my audience to reach after using the journal.
For instance, I created the Fitness Manifestation Journal with the goal being that my reader would have successfully tracked their water intake, meals, workouts, and even their moods, after using this journal.
They then had to write down reflections on those actions they took, and they’re asked to evaluate what they would do differently in the future.
Right there, that’s an example of my audience accomplishing a measurable and tangible goal.
Key tip: Write down a list of goals you want for your audience, then write another list of journals that you could create to get them to accomplish those specific goals. Then, you will know exactly what journal you want to create and sell to your audience!
