What is your brand story?

Your brand story is basically a narrative that encompasses what you and your business are about.

Your brand story could include the reason you started your business, an event that triggered a turning point in your life or in your business, and could even weave a beautiful ongoing tale into each product you put out into the world, a vibe that you portray to your target audience.

For example, if you are a pizza restaurant owner, your brand story might include a wonderful and rich account of your family history, how your restaurant was started by your grandparents with only a handful of money and the delicious recipes they would prepare for the family every single night — before they felt the need to share their gift of cuisine with the world, therefore leading them to open their amazing business.

That’s just an example of a story that you could tie in to your personal brand story.

Ways you can tell your story

Many experts suggest that you begin by getting really clear about each aspect you want to convey regarding your brand. This would be a great time for you to use the free Personal Brand Story Workbook I created for you!

Yes, it’s simple, but it’s a proven way to help you get the ideas you have swirling around in your head, right on to paper and into the hearts and minds of your audience and people you serve.

Here are some great tips for when it comes to sharing your story:

Be authentic

Be honest

Know your audience

Speak to the emotions of your audience through storytelling

Utilize color and font effectively when you create ads and content

Ask for feedback frequently

Create a “Headline” for your business, and develop a “Mission Statement”

Know your business’s core values

Pinpoint the tone of your business and your preferred ways of communicating with your audience

Basic points for your brand story

Think of your brand story like a mini movie.

Talk about your origin, how things came to be, similar to the restaurant story I mentioned above.

Also, talk about the big moments that were turning points in your history. Then, think of it this way: Answer the who, what, where, when, how, and why — who you serve, what you do for them, when you do it, how you do it and WHY you do it. That’s a great start for a brand story!
